The types around the wedding can be quite amusing, moving, and completely different from the traditional european ceremony. I had the honor of witnessing a few of them while filming celebrations in Bulgaria.
One of the most distinctive Bulgarian marriage customs is known as “gelina.” It’s where the bridegroom goes and steals his wife from her relatives property, taking her to his own household. It’s thought that this ritual does justify against evil temperament and provide fine wealth for the newlyweds.
The couple will typically attend a large reception in a restaurant or other venue following the church or civil ceremony ( or both ). Their mothers likely swap tiny pieces of the standard rounded bread dipped in salt belarus wives and honey before going in.
